Tierra Verde – History and Information
Tierra Verde is a prime waterfront community consisting of six unique areas, Monte Cristo, Entrada, Pinellas Bayway, Sands Point, East Shore/Bayview, and West Shore/Oceanview. Jam-packed with opportunities for water activities such as fishing, dolphin and manatee watching, and frolicking on the beach and surf to historical and scenic bicycling excursions, residents and visitors find Tierra Verde to be a family fantasy.
Fort De Soto County Park, the largest beachside park within Pinellas County, is located just south of Tierra Verde. Known for its award-winning white sandy beaches, pristine waters, and fascinating wartime history, it is at the top of the Parent’s Magazine 2011 list of “Best Family Beaches” in the country.
Guy Lombardo is among many famous people who fell in love with the Tierra Verde communities. In 1963, he held the grand opening of his Port O’ Call Resort where Frank Sinatra, Marlene Dietrich, Liberace, Mel Tormé, and many other musical and theatrical stars later performed. Lombardo promoted Tierra Verde and his resort when the band did bus tours across the country. He was so enamored with the resort area a Tierra Verde banner hung on the side of the bus.
