Tides Beach Club History & Information
Many people don’t know that The Tides Beach Club sits on the site of the previous Tides Hotel and Bath Club. Opening in 1936 on New Year’s Eve running in to the 1990’s, the old Tides consisted of a hotel, motor inn and bath club, featuring dining rooms, ballroom, dinner theater and two beach-front pools. All manner of society and famous persons could be seen relaxing at The Tides, as seen in the photo below of Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe in 1961.
Sometimes unfortunately, times change and this classic piece of old Florida saw its end soon after its owner died in 1989. The operation was not profitable, Gulf-front land had increased exponentially in value, and eventually the heirs sold the property which was soon demolished.
Construction began on the new Tides Beach Club in 1996 and was completed in 2000. On its 14 Gulf front acres sit six buildings containing 214 condo units. Well thought out floor-plans range from 2 bedroom, 2 bath units of 1230 square feet, to 4 bedroom, 3 bath units at over 2500 finished square feet. There are three pools including the large central pool in front of the beautiful clubhouse, which all owners and visitors have use of.
