Snell Isle is a peaceful and quiet area with many classic European and Spanish design homes dating from the 1920s. Snell Isle gets its name from C. Perry Snell, who first visited St. Petersburg on his wedding trip in 1898, and then later returned to purchase the property. Placido Bayou is a gated community with both single-family homes and luxury condos. It is known for its attractive tile roofs, quiet ambiance and many ponds and water features. Eden Isles has a mix of affordable single-family homes in a variety of styles in Northeast St. Petersburg. Venetian Isles is an upscale Tampa Bay waterfront community of 525 beautiful homes on a group of manmade islands. Developed in the 1950s as a submerged water landfill and built to an elevation of 5-7 feet above the natural shoreline, Venetian Isles is accessible by the bridges on Overlook Drive, Grand Canal Boulevard, and Mermaid Point. All homes are concrete block and conform to neighborhood requirements of minimum size to protect the integrity of the area.
The Renaissance Vinoy Golf Club original design takes you back to 1920s when resorts and golf clubs blossomed. Preserving the historic integrity, renowned golf architect Ron Garl later restored the course to the present day status featuring a challenging 18-hole, par 72 championship course with pine valleys, nine lakes, narrow fairways, and a signature island green. When designing a course, Garl endeavors to balance and support the natural environment within the course environment. Consequently, it is common for Club members to enjoy the pleasure of observing a variety of sea birds from the nearby Tampa Bay. The Vinoy Golf Club is located just a few minutes from the spectacular 85-year-old Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
